In Bolivian artist Graciela Rodo Boulanger’s “Le Violon De Juliette,” a girl somberly plays the violin with an earnest intensity possessed only by children. Boulanger typically paints vibrantly dressed children against a neutral backdrop, representing Bolivia, where people’s intensely bright clothing contrasts with the country’s brown and gray mountains. Formerly a pianist, Boulanger expresses children’s directness, innocence and special bond with animals. Skilled in many mediums, Boulanger has presented more than 150 exhibitions on five continents.
